November Update

After all your amazing support for Stand Up, People, we’ve had a busy month preparing for the upcoming release (scheduled for early 2013). We thought we’d give you an update on what we’ve been up to – there’s lots of great stuff to read and listen to!
Vlax Records on DJ Ritu’s A World in London
Phil took a trip across London to meet up with the great DJ Ritu, and chat about Stand up, People on her world music radio show. He brought a few rare tracks from his vinyl collection, too. You can hear a podcast of the show here, and if want to hear another great tune from the project, check out last week’s show as well here. Highly recommended.Vinyl hunting in the Balkans – iCrates Article

We were lucky enough to have the chance to write an article about our experiences hunting for rare vinyls in the Balkans for the wonderful iCrates vinyl magazine. You can learn a little more about our record collection, and the good times and the bad as we dug out Roma rarities. Check it out here. Also, a shout-out to iCrates for their amazing Kickstarter project: they’re trying to produce a lush special print edition of the magazine – spread the word!

Bturn Interview

The cool kids at hip Balkan culture magazine Bturn recently interviewed Phil and Nat about their vinyl-huting trip. Check it out here.

What’s next?

Next month we’re off to Belgrade to select the final few tracks for the release and start restoring our vinyls, before getting our tracks mastered and the records pressed. We can’t wait to send you your CDs and records! Thanks again for all your support.

  1. I’ve got loads of Yugoslav records and tapes from that period, and in that style, at my house in London, which I collected from 1979 – so maybe you didn’t need to travel so far!
